2006 I was a wee lad. Fresh out of highschool - not knowing what I was going to do next in life. A friend put me in contact with a guy - (the innocent shall remain nameless). The guy owned a successful drywall company. He knew I had no experience at all, but I needed the job (verrrrry badly). He hired me and took me under his wing.
Come to find out I was a pro at plastering. Long story short, 2008 was a terrible year for our economy...the recession hit. The business was turning into a sinking ship that we were on. The lack of computer savy and knowledge of marketing was the downfall for the business. New local drywall companies were using marketing tactics, and take much of his business.
I watched him struggle to make ends meet and pay us. I looked at him like a father figure, it was times I worked for free. Seeing him lose his business house, and wife killed me. The business went under, I went to school for computer science. I got a job branding and marketing with one of the biggest media companies in the country. Stayed there for 10 yrs.
I had a first- hand glimpse at how small business were being treated by big agencies. Now it's my mission to help the little guy. I attack every client's problem like I wish I could have solved his. Today I leverage branding and google to help home service contractors "X" out home advisor's high lead cost. I dig putting contractors in a situation where they never have to be in a position like my old boss.
